Description
One more to finish up the year! Continuing with the Playboy trend, I decided to make a tribute to one of the Femlins, tiny mischievous female sprites created by LeRoy Neiman in 1955. Those are normally found in the party jokes section of the magazine in a variety of situations. It always struck me the simplicity of the lines to illustrate those little girls, so after I bought the book with hundreds of illustrations of the Femlin I got inspired to make a pinup artwork of them.
I played around with the poses, added a little touch of symbolism with the cherry, and there's is the result! This time I decided to practice a airbrushing and masks technique to render the figure in a way similar to Serge Birault's style, he's such a great inspiration!
The result is quite clean and well finished, but is rather laborious to produce and the sketch has to be as right as possible! It was an interesting technique to study.
Produced in Photoshop CS5 with a Wacom Cintiq 21UX.
Femlins belong to Playboy.
