Padawan Red Riding Hoodby ~KimiSz

A different exercise this time! A re-interpretation of the Little Red Riding Hood story.

I thought of playing with the possibility of a little crossover with the great universe created by George Lucas, Star Wars.

I wondered how to get the feel of the history of Red Riding Hood, in which the girl is chased by the wolf, but within the perspective of Star Wars. Obviously the first thing that came through my mind was to make Riding Hood in the form of Jedi, but then I thought it would be nice if it she wasn't a Jedi yet, but a Padawan (Jedi novice) in order to demonstrate more insecure and fearful character.

At first I was thinking in making only a concept art, addressing only the girl, but I ultimately decided to shoot for making a version of the wolf as a "Darth Wolf" of some sort, stalking and hunting Red Riding Hood.

Like "Redhead at Beach", I did an extensive study in form of sketches and studies of the composition. The design of the girl itself was very quick to resolve, and I've putted some symbolic elements of Star Wars in her design. The scene itself could've used some more detail, but still, I liked the result!

Painting done in Photoshop CS4 with a Wacom Cintiq 12WX.

The "Star Wars" universe belongs to George Lucas.
