Another theme illustration! This month's theme was Atlantis! Kinda complicated to perform but it also allows a range of interesting possibilities.
My interpretation, like many myths suggests, was more towards Atlantis with a very advanced technology for its time. I've thought of a massive Robot / Automaton / Golem made of brass, or a similar material, being manipulated by some Atlanteans. I decided to play with the robot design and tested a more most rustic design to give a feeling of old but with a little touch of a magical powered mechanism. I made sure to put enough greek design elements on the overall scene so it can be, somewhat, recognizable as a greek civilization.
For the Atlanteans I had an idea to put some masks to give a more impersonal and the enigmatic feel of the characters as well as some elements present in the robot to make some sort of relationship. The colors blue/purple of their tunics suggests that the characters are somewhat of a high social status, since these colors were very difficult to get in order to dye the robes, so they were reserved only for high classes with more power and influence, which works for the context. After all it would take knowledge to build something like this, and usually only the upper classes had a more scientific / mystical knowledge at hand.
It was interesting to produce, it sure stimulates the imagination!
